Debbie has a BSc Hons degree in Physiotherapy from The Royal London Hospital where she studied and worked. She also worked Hillbrow Hospital in Johannesburg, ran a Rehabilitation Unit in a Saudi Arabia and worked in France. She can speak French reasonably well. She has an MSc from UCT for her thesis on Low Back Pain and has completed OMT1 (Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy).Debbie has worked for UCT as a Clinical Educator and recently spent 18 months researching the impact of ageing on activity and is currently studying modules in chronic pain management.
Debbie was a competitive swimmer, played water polo as a student and received her provincial colours for fencing while in Gauteng. Debbie has a wide range of Physiotherapy experience treating back and neck pain, many types of sports and other recreational injuries and headaches.
Debbie normally works at OM SSISA Gym full time where for the last 4 years she has been running the Back and Neck Programme to help people find practical ways to manage their back and neck pain in their daily lives. Universal Health has taken over the administration of this programme which is still available to members of OMSMAF. As a result of the COVID pandemic and subsequent change in working habits at Mutual Park, Debbie is now working between Millennium Business Park and Old Mutual.
